Getting to Zipolo Habu Resort

Daily flights from Honiara to Munda take approximately one hour and from Gizo only 15 minutes. From Munda Airport, it is only a 20 minute scenic boat ride to the resort. The resort also offers private transfers to and from other areas throughout the Western Province if required.

At the end of the day, the fully licensed waterfront bar and restaurant is the place to kick back and soak up the atmosphere. The company is great, the beer is always cold and the menu features fresh local seafood and produce.Your favourite sports matches can be viewed on the satellite television in the café.

Hammocks are scattered throughout the island and kayaks are available free of charge for guest use. The resort has a book swap and a board game selection which is brilliant for the odd rainy day. Guests can use the beach volleyball court located on the foreshore or explore the bushwalking track which weaves through the rainforest to the beach on the far side of the island.

ZipoloHabualso has a fleet of custom built sport fishing boats as well as an onsite tackle shop.

Accommodation at Zipolo Habu Resort

Accommodation at Zipolo Habu Resort consists of individual, rustic bungalows made from traditional sago palm leaves. All bungalows have 240 volt power, lights and fans and a kitchenette equipped with gas stove, fridge and cooking utensils. Fresh rain water is provided, along with tea and coffee making facilities. Mosquito nets are provided in each bedroom.

Traditional Leaf Bungalows x 2

The traditional bungalows utilise local design for a typical village-style house experience. Each bungalow has two bedrooms and can be configured for 2 singles or 1 double in each bedroom. Large airy balconies come with a view over the gardens and out to the lagoon. There is a kitchenette in each bungalow with a bar fridge and gas stove. 240 volt power is available from 11am until 11pm. The hot water shower and toilet facilities are shared.

Cozy Semi-Deluxe Bungalow x 1

This bungalow is located closest to the restaurant and has two snug bedrooms, each with one double bed, and an intimate veranda. Comfortable and well appointed, this bungalow features beautiful hand woven walling and louvre windows, 24 hour lighting and fans. The kitchenette has a bar fridge and single gas burner stove. Hot water shower and toilet facilities are shared.

Large Semi-Deluxe Bungalow x 1

Two bedrooms with queen size bed in one room and one single bed, one double bed in the other room. There is 24 hour power for bedroom fans and lights. The kitchenette has a fridge and gas burner stove. The bungalow features two verandas – a large covered veranda at the front and a small covered veranda off the back bedroom. Shared toilet and hot water shower facility.

Deluxe Bungalow x 1

The Deluxe Bungalow offers a premium level of comfort, privacy and style and has two bedrooms (one queen size bed/one double bed) with ceiling fans. The absolute waterfront positioning provides panoramic views across Vona Vona Lagoon to the dormant Kolombangara volcano in the distance. This bungalow features an ensuite bathroom with hot water showers, a kitchenette with bar fridge and single burner gas stove and a furnished balcony. A battery back-up provides 24 hour power for fans and lighting at any time of day or night.

Large Deluxe Bungalow x 1

The Large Deluxe Bungalow offers similar features to the Deluxe Bungalow with two large bedrooms each with one double and two single beds, wall fans, reading lights, full size kitchen, 24 hour power and a sitting area opening on to a large veranda over the beach with a beautiful view over the lagoon to the extinct volcano. The ensuite features a hot soft rain water shower.

Diving and Snorkelling

Guests staying at Zipolu Habu Resort have the opportunity to join the boat dives and snorkelling trips offered by Dive Munda. Dive Munda offers a free pick up and drop off service to all Zipolo Habu guests. They also offer a range of training options onsite, and with a many dive sites just around the corner, there is no better place to learn how to dive than here on Lola Island. Diving around Munda includes a spectacular and unique fresh/salt water cave dive, stunning reef and drop offs, together with a sample of WWII wrecks.

Surfing

Although the local surf can be extremely inconsistent, when the surf is up, you’ll have it all to yourself. The resort break is ‘Skull Island’, which is almost paddling distance. When it’s breaking, Skull Island is a nice, clean, extremely long, right hand break over deep coral reef.

There are two other confirmed surf breaks 5 to 20 minutes from the resort. A range of boards are available for hire from the resort at modest rates.

Bikiki Island – Half to full day tour

Located only 5 minutes from the resort, spend the day on your own uninhabited island. A picnic mat and snorkelling gear is provided and a packed lunch and refreshments can also be organised.

World War II Tours

The Solomon Islands played host to some of the fiercest battles of WWII and many remnants of that era still exist today. Close by you can see, amongst other things, a fully intact US Tank, Japanese bunker systems, an underground clinic, 140mm shore battery guns and a sunken Japanese freighter.

Skull Island Warrior Chief Shrine

For those interested in local history take a trip to nearby Skull Island to visit the shrine of the local warrior chiefs and get a taste of the unique head hunting past of the area.

Rainforest River Trip

Take a boat ride to one of the nearby tidal rivers that run through lowland rainforest and experience, firsthand, this unique environment home to rare freshwater fish, exotic tropical birds and saltwater crocodiles.

Vona Vona Lagoon Excursion – Half day tour

Tour the beautiful and complex passages through the unspoiled mangrove-edged island lagoon system. Visit Skull Island and a Basket Weavers Village. A 3 hour boat ride through the stunning Vona Vona Lagoon to the Blackett Straits and return.

Manta Ray Island Trip – Full day tour

A full day on a stunningly beautiful deserted island with picnic lunch, world class snorkelling, and fishing expeditions all included. A visit to nearby resorts for lunch or a cold drink can also be arranged.
